Pure Assam Teas are as versatile as the notes of a Beethoven symphony and no less beautiful. While the words Assam Tea immediately bring to mind notions of a strong, brisk cup with a gutty mouth feel, some of the most delicate seasonal flavors and characteristics are found in these teas. With a generous sprinkling of golden "tips" during the first and second flush seasons, and a seductive autumnal character in later months, these teas contribute the "skeleton of the blend" for many successful global tea brands.

Black tea is essentially of two types: Orthodox (primarily drunk black) and Crush-Tear-Curl or CTC (can be drunk black or with milk). Both these teas start off in the same way, as leaves from Camelia Sinensis plant. The difference in the processing of these leaves decides whether they will become Orthodox or CTC leaves.

The MK Jokai Group has sophisticated machinery capable of manufacturing both Orthodox and CTC tea. However, in recent years the group has focused exclusively on manufacturing 100% Orthodox teas, to meet the demands of our ever-increasing global clientele. Each of our 7 gardens currently produces 100% Orthodox teas.
